Persistent headaches can have many possible causes — some are minor, while others may be more serious, including the possibility of a brain tumor. That said, most persistent headaches are not caused by brain tumors.

Headache Symptoms More Suggestive of a Brain Tumor

  • Headaches worse in the morning, or that wake you up at night

  • Nausea or vomiting, especially with no stomach illness

  • Worsening over weeks/months

  • Accompanied by seizures, confusion, or vision/hearing changes

  • One-sided weaknesstingling, or trouble speaking

  • Unresponsive to usual headache medication
